Beware holiday wardrobe malfunctions
Are you beach ready? While you relax on your summer holidays, spare a thought for those poor fashion victims such as Peter Stringfellow and Katie Price, who have topped a poll looking for the worst style crimes seen beside the seaside.
A survey for Australian swimwear specialists Trixan Body has found the most-feared sight on the beach is excess body hair, with 29% of respondents saying they have been offended by such a sight in the past.
Other fashion don'ts in the survey included tight, ill-fitting swimwear resulting in wardrobe ‘malfunctions’ (18%), beer bellies hanging over swimwear (18%), not wearing enough by going topless or wearing a thong (16%) and see-through swimwear (6%).
As well as Stringfellow and Price, GMTV weathergirl Claire Nasir was also criticised for her summer style.
While 50% of respondents think women can wear a bikini at any age, 38% believe that 45 is a woman’s cut off age for bikini wear – we’re pretty sure Helen Mirren would have something to say about that!
“For many of us daring to bare on the beach is an annual event, so it’s a great chance to push change in your style, but it’s easy to slip up as we can see!" said Rob Phillips, Creative Director London College of Fashion.
