Beauty summer spending survives the recession
A new poll found half of shoppers are still spending £500 this summer to look good on holiday - with 12% planning to spend up to £1,000.
DiscountVouchers.co.uk surveyed just over 700 Brits about their beauty spending. They found that 83% of Brits always buy new clothes or shoes for their holidays, and more than half of them splash out on new swimwear. Up to 50% said that they will visit their hairdresser and just over a fifth will receive beauty treatments to ensure they look their best.
London respondents did not have the biggest spend, drawing the line at £2,500 - while one in ten ladies in the East Anglia said they would be willing to spend more than £2,500.
"While Brits are currently cutting back on their energy bills and petrol usage, their pre-holiday routines have not been affected by the tough economic climate,” said Doug Scott, managing director of money saving website DiscountVouchers.co.uk.
“Despite being financially worse off, Brits are not letting this affect their appearance when they jet off on their holidays."
