Self-tan sales 'up 19% at John Lewis'
With the new series of TOWIE set to launch this weekend, spas and salons are still supporting a sales surge in glamorous beauty treatments. Sales of self-tan are up 19% at John Lewis, as ladies seek to get that Essex glow in the winter months.
Best-sellers include Fake Bake, Bliss, Clarins, St Tropez and Estee Lauder Bronze Goddess.
In-spa tans are also on the up, as are long-lasting manicures such as glitter Shellac and eye boosters such as lash extensions.
At the end of the last series, it was reported that fake eyelashes are the most popular of the three TOWIE looks with more than half of all searches for the three products (61%) on Alibaba.com. TOWIE star Lauren Goodger has since released her own range of lashes and tans, Lauren's Way.
But nail treatments are also popular as consumers aim to emulate the long, bejewelled talons of the show’s stars.
Hollie Gordon, owner of Forever Gorgeous at the Queens Hotel and Spa, said: "We offer all sorts of pampering treatments but it's the glam party treatments that everyone wants at the moment.
Best-sellers at Forever Gorgeous includ Sienna X tan (£15), glitter Shellac (£15) and Crybaby long-lasting mascara (£45).
