Home-made recipes for beach ready skin
The first sight of sunshine makes us think of one thing – hitting the beach. Yep, the best thing about the warmer weather is donning a bikini and heading to the beach for a spot of sunbathing. Of course, with the weather in the UK not always up to scratch, those beach days tend to be reserved for our holidays.
However, there is one thing that tends to put something of a dampener on our day dreams of lounging on the beach – winter skin. Yes, after covering up in chunky layers throughout the winter months and with central heating taking its toll, skin can be dull, grey and dry – in other words, not exactly beach-ready.
But that doesn't have to be the case. You can get yourself gorgeous skin in time for summer and it doesn't have to cost you a fortune!
Here are our home-made remedies for winter skin.
Body scrub
This gorgeous vanilla scrub will leave your skin smelling and looking amazing.
Simply take one cup of brown sugar and half a cup of almond oil, mix together and add a teaspoon of vanilla essence to give your scrub a delicious scent.
Combine the mixture and apply over damp skin when in the bath or shower. Rinse thoroughly and you're left with soft and beautiful skin.
Home-made foot soak
This foot soak will leave your tootsies soft and smooth. You will need four cups of milk and four cups of water and a couple of vanilla pods. Add all the ingredients to a large pan and warm gently until the mixture is hot but not scalding. Pour into a bowl and soak your feet for around twenty minutes.
Home-made hand scrub
If you want soft and smooth hands but don’t want to pay a fortune for a pricey hand scrub then try this simple home-made recipe. Simply soak two heaped tablespoons of porridge oats in half a cup of water for around ten minutes, add a tablespoon and mix. Rub onto hands and rinse well with warm water.
Home-made shower cream
This shower cream is easy to make and smells delicious! Simply take a cup of dried chamomile, three tablespoons of honey and one and a half cups of milk. Let the chamomile sit in the milk for a good few hours then sieve. Stir in the honey and mix until combined and apply before you get into the shower.
