Maintaining the perfect smile
Nothing makes you look nicer or healthier than a pretty, white smile. Regardless of what you wear or how you do your make up, wearing a beaming smile can help you to look your best. But maintaining a healthy smile takes work. Here are our top tips!
Brush at least twice a day?
It’s an obvious one but it’s also very important. Brushing your teeth thoroughly at least twice a day is essential if you want to keep your teeth and gums healthy. When brushing your teeth be sure to concentrate on back teeth too and make sure you brush the whole tooth. It’s also important to brush your tongue as this can carry bacteria long after you’ve brushed your teeth. ??
If possible brush your teeth after meals too. If this isn’t possible you should chew a piece of sugar free gum after eating.
Clean your tongue
Your tongue can carry a lot of bacteria, which can lead to bad breath and some nasty mouth conditions. In order to avoid this make sure you clean your tongue as well as your teeth. Some tooth brushes not come with rubber backs which you use to clean your tongue after brushing. Mouthwash is also great for killing bacteria on the tongue.
Use mouthwash?
Mouthwash gets rid of lots of bacteria that brushing might have missed. It also helps to clean your gums, which brushing might not always do, and freshens your breath. Rinse your mouth with mouthwash after brushing your teeth and gargle for a few seconds too.
Floss?
Food and debris that becomes trapped between our teeth can cause them to decay. Even the smallest pieces that you can’t see or feel and your toothbrush misses can cause serious harm so try to get into the habit of using dental floss and eating and after brushing to make sure your mouth is thoroughly clean.
Chew gum after eating
When you can’t whip out your toothbrush and give your teeth a good clean after eating, be sure to have sugar-free chewing gum instead. Chewing gum will go some way towards cleaning your teeth and the minty flavour will give you fresh breath straight after eating.
Ditch the cigarettes
If you’re serious about protecting your teeth then you need to ditch the cigarettes. Smoking can leave yellow stains on your teeth, which aren’t attractive. Smoking is obviously also very harmful to your health so make the effort today to pack in the cigarette for good.
