Five simple tricks for looking slimmer
Ok, you know what it takes to be slimmer. You're not stupid, you know all of those fad diets that promise ridiculous weight loss within a matter of days don't work. You know the only way to get a slimmer, more toned figure is to commit to a healthier lifestyle involving a low-calorie, balanced diet and lots of exercise.
BUT you also know that this takes time, time you don't have when you need to look slimmer by the weekend! Well don't panic. There are some ways you can cheat in order to make yourself appear slimmer for a special occasion or big event.
Wear one colour
Wearing the same colour on your top and bottom helps to elongate your figure and give the illusion of a thinner, in-proportion body. Block colour dresses are particularly affective for this or try a suit (there are plenty of great short suits about if you're looking for a funkier look) and team with a neutral shades vest.
Wear a V neck
V-neck tops and dresses accentuate you neck which is usually your slimmest part. The neck is one of the sexiest parts of a woman's body so a v-neck will help to distract attention from other areas you might not be so keen on such as your belly, hips or thighs.
Wear your hair off your face
Be wearing your hair up you give the illusion of a slimmer face, accentuating your cheek bones and lifting sagging skin. Of course, no one is suggesting you go for the “Croydon facelift” look but lightly pulling the hair away from the face is a great way of appearing slimmer.
Wear heels
It's an old one but a good one. Wearing heels helps to elongate the legs and gives the illusion they are not only longer but also slimmer and more shapely. Don't break your neck in stilettos just to get this look. A comfortable wedge will have the same effect.
Get a tan
Getting a tan is one of the oldest tricks in the book when it comes to appearing slimmer. Of course, wanting to look slim is no excuse for putting your health in danger by using sunbeds so, instead, opt for a spray tan. There are plenty of different types around now and they can be very natural-looking. Just make sure, if you're doing it for a special occasion, that you have a practice run first to see how it turns out.
