Healthy popcorn may prove key to slimming success

Wednesday, 30 November 2011 10:34 AM

A brand of healthy popcorn has proved popular with slimming groups and is now recommended by both Scottish Slimmers and Weightwatchers as a diet-friendly alternative to crisps and fatty snacks. Diva Popcorn bags are less than 100 calories.

A spokeswoman for Scottish Slimmers said: "DIVA Air-Popped Popcorn is going down a storm with members and staff alike."

It has also been ranked at just 2-3 ProPoints per pack by Weight Watchers - ideal for a mid-afternoon snack.

The popcorn is 100% wholegrain, gluten-free and high in fibre. Each bag contains less than 100 calories worth of popcorn and, to keep it as healthy as possible, the crunchy snack is air-popped – rather than oil-popped – to keep fat levels low, less than 0.4g saturated fat.

It’s available in three flavours - Three Cheese, Rock Salt and Sweet Chipotle Chilli.

Buy online or look out for Diva Popcorn at Amazon, Harrods, Harvey Nichols, Dobbies Garden Centres, Farm, Tossed, Wholefoods and health food shops. Each bag costs 85p.
