The real reason you're not losing weight
You’re working really hard and you think you’re being good yet when it comes to getting on those scales you’re almost always disappointed? Where are you going wrong? It’s a problem many people face when trying to lose weight. That’s because, making tiny mistakes here and there, like the ones listed below, can make a huge difference to how successful your weightloss is.
Not counting the snacks
You may be an absolute angel when it comes to mealtimes, choosing to eat big healthy salads and avoid anything considered even mildly naughty. But what you may not be doing is paying attention when it comes to snacking.
If, for example, while you’re in the kitchen preparing your deliciously healthy salad you snack on a few slices of ham, a piece of cheese and a biscuit, all your good efforts are somewhat ruined. Be careful to track not just what you eat for lunch and dinner but also what you eat in between.
Portion sizes
Just because a piece of lean chicken, a jacket potato and some salad is considered healthy, that doesn’t mean three pieces of chicken and two jacket potatoes with salad is healthy. It’s all about portion control.
Not drinking water
Water is essential to flush out toxins and to keep your digestive system working effectively. As such drinking water can aid weight loss and is essential for anyone dieting (although you should be drinking eight 8oz glasses every day anyway!).
No exercising
It’s a universally acknowledged fact that healthy eating AND exercise is the only sure fire way to lose weight healthily and keep it off. Yet far too many people decide to leave out the exercise bit. Getting more exercise in your life doesn’t mean you have to join an expensive gym or start training for the marathon. Simply start walking more, perhaps walk to work if you can or get off the bus or park the car a little further away from the office.
Dressings
You may be doing very well by eating salads for your lunch but you could be unknowingly ruining all your hard work by using a fat-filled dressing. Some dressings are packed full of calories and without realizing it you could be piling on the pounds. If you must have a dressing always read the label to make sure it’s a low fat one.
