Ditch the sugar for diet success

Thursday, 12 July 2012 2:50 PM

Sugar is an enemy of your teeth AND your waistline - and can have far-reaching consequences on your health. Rebecca Dorta, nutritionist at Grayshott Spa, says sugar is a major issue in the war against obesity and many, if not all, health concerns.

“Refined sugars are void of any nutrients,” she said. “They contain no fibre, fats, proteins, enzymes, minerals or vitamins and therefore cause a nutrient debt in the body, as nutrients are required to process them.”

Rebecca's top tips for dieting include drinking more water, eating all food groups, increasing vegetables in your diet, monitoring portion sizes, chewing food carefully, waiting 20 minutes before any seconds and adding high intensity interval exercise to your fitness regime.

Grayshott Spa's four-night New Body programme is ideal for those who want to make changes to their body and/or fitness and are in need of professional help and support. All meals are included - with specially recommended menus for guests to choose from. Prices start from £1050 per person, based on two sharing.
