When it comes to wearing short-sleeved tops and strapless dresses there's one thing that can make an outfit and that is toned arms. Flabby bingo wings are decidedly unsexy and what most of us dream of are sexy, toned upper arms that we feel comfortable showing off.

Unfortunately, once arms have gotten flabby it can be quite tough to tone them back up but it is not impossible! Indeed, if you follow our tips below you could have sexy toned arms in time for the summer season so get your strappy summer dresses out!

Bicep curls
Take some hand weights or even two full water bottles or two tins of beans. Hold one in each hand and curl your arms upwards until your hands reach your shoulders. Slowly uncurl and repeat until you have done a set of ten. Do this three times and repeat for three sets. If you do this every day you're on your way to having beautifully toned upper arms.

Lower and lift
Use a chair from your dining room table. Sit upright on it with your hands gripping the base of the chair. Next, gently lower yourself to the floor, using the muscles in your upper arms. Then gently lift yourself back up onto the chair. Do this ten times and repeat for two more sets of ten.

Swimming
Swimming is a fantastic exercise for loads of different reasons! It's low impact so anyone can do it, it a great cardio exercise and it works almost every muscle in your body – including your arms. Regardless of what stroke you do, whether it be breaststroke, front crawl or backstroke, your biceps and triceps are getting a work out. So grab your costume and get down to the pool.

Tennis
Tennis is a great cardio exercise. All that running around for the ball really gets your heart rate up. What's more your legs will also get a good work out. But it's you arms that really feel the benefit. There are plenty of tennis courts, which you can rent for a game, so find yourself a tennis partner, grab your racket and get toning those arms.

Doorframe tenses
Tenses are a fabulous exercise for toning up your arms and upper body. And all you need is something to hold on to! Simply hold your arms either side of the doorframe and squeeze for ten seconds. Release and repeat ten times. Do three sets of this three times a week and you could soon have toned arms and a sexy back.
