Sadly thousands of women are diagnosed with cancer every year. But if it is caught early there is more chance of it being treated successfully. The following cancers are particularly common amongst women. As such, all men should be on the look out for these signs and symptoms.

Breast cancer
Most women know that one of the most common signs of breast cancer is the discovery of a lump in a breast. As such, should you find any unusual lumps in your breasts be sure to make an appointment with your doctor straight away. There are other symptoms to look out for too. Your breast may change is size or shape or the skin may appear different. Your nipple may become inverted or you may develop a rash around the nipple. You may also experience bleeding from the nipple.

Bowel cancer
Many people who have bowel cancer let it go undiagnosed because they are embarrassed to speak to their doctor. You must speak to your doctor if you have any of the symptoms associated with bowel cancer, these include blood in your stools, unexplained weight loss, pain in the back passage or abdomen or gas bloating or cramps in the tummy. These may be nothing or may be related to something trivial but it is worth getting checked out if you are experiencing them.

Lung cancer
Many of the symptoms of lunch cancer are similar to those associated with a chest infection or a cold and so, unfortunately, often go unchecked. You may have a cough when you have a cold but if your cough has lasted for three weeks or more and is not going away then you need to get checked out. If you have the symptoms of a chest infection but over a prolonged period of time you could be suffering from something more serious. Also be on the look out for breathlessness, blood in your phlegm, a raspy voice, pain in your chest when you breath in or a loss of appetite. If you are tired all of the time or have difficultly swallowing these could also be symptoms.

Ovarian cancer
Ovarian cancer affects many women and although treatable it must be caught early. The symptoms of ovarian cancer involve many of the general symptoms of cancer such as loss of appetite but weight gain as opposed to loss is common with this cancer. If you feel bloated all of the time or sick, you have no appetite or you have a swelling in your stomach you must speak to you doctor. Pain during sex, vaginal bleeding, lower back pain or needing the toilet more are also common symptoms.
