Too much time spent working on smartphones and other mobile devices can cause a raft of health problems - people tend to maintain an awkward posture that might lead to pain in the back and neck, and receiving a work-related email that causes you stress can make it hard to wind down at the end of the day.

A report from the Chartered Society of Physiotherapy (CSP) reveals UK employees now work more thanks to owning a mobile device. Almost two thirds, 64%, of UK workers said that they continue to perform job-related activities on their mobile devices outside regular working hours for an average of two hours 18 minutes. We then spend an average six hours 22 minutes per day in front of a computer screen in the office on top of that.

The general secretary of the Trades Union Congress, Brendan Barber, told the BBC: "Excessive work levels are not good for anyone. Overworked employees are not only unlikely to be performing well at work, the stress an unmanageable workload causes is also likely to be making them ill.
