One in 10 admit to sex in the office

We all love a good workplace romance but are you randy co-workers taking matters a step further - and getting amorous in the office? A poll suggests as many as one in 10 of them are and 7% of those claim that office relations is a regular pasttime!

Maris Interiors polled more than 400 people and found 11% of employees surveyed admitted to having sex in the office.

Unsurprisingly, it is men more than women who are looking for lunch-hour liaisons. When asked if they would ever consider a liaison in the office, 44% of men asked said that they would - but only 27% of women thought it sounded an appealing prospect.

The most popular location was the employee's own desk (38%), with other settings including the meeting room (14%), the car park (12%), toilets (8%) and the boss' desk (5%). Unsurprisingly, the majority (94%) occurred outside of normal office hours.

Human Resources partner at Maris Interiors, Claire Walker said: "I would recommend trying not to get caught! You may well be in breach of your employment contract if you're thought to be bringing the company's reputation into disrepute. And even if your job is safe, it will make for pretty embarrassing chats around the water cooler."
